Best decision ever

I found this beading class particularly useful. Jan's attentiveness to detail in pattern, stitch and her friendliness stood out to me first, and then her careful instruction on the process. I recommend her for the ease she provides for you to learn and practice. If you're a tambour beading enthusiast, her course is definitely worth it. And believe me you will be hooked for life.
Fudge man and cat were there to create a very homely atmosphere. Thank you Jan.

3 days and I have become a Tambourist for life

I looked into tambour because though I have been doing embroidery for a while, I didnt feel like I had found the right style for me.

I found Jan online and seeing her resume decided to get to Dover (I live in Australia). As soon as we were in contact Jan was very friendly and helpful. I went to Jan's for 3 days.

I cannot thank Jan enough. She not only showed me techniques but inspired me. Her knowledge is immense.

I came away with a new skill and one that I fell in love with. Jan's encouragement and expertise really inspired me and showed me that I could make this amazing craft my career.

Jan has also been there for me after my one-to-one. If there are any questions, she answers. For her it is important that this technique doesn't get forgotten and to flourish.

If anybody is thinking of trying tambour or wanting to progress, I could not recommend Jan enough. She is one of the greatest teachers I have met.

Like others I can't continue without mentioning Fudge Man - I left with a goody bag. I managed to devour them in a rather short amount of time and I don't have a very sweet tooth!

The best sewing course I have ever done by far.

I was looking for a tambour class on line and I could not believe my good fortune when I discovered Jans site. And one to one tuition as well. I was so excited and booked straight away.

I studied with Jan for 2 days. I learned so much and Jan with her patient and thorough way of teaching built a confidence within me that I have never experienced with any other teacher. She really knows her stuff and is more than happy to share it.

Jan is a unique teacher, she de mystified tambour beading and embroidery breaking it all down into simple steps which I still remember without having to look at my notes. I will most definitely be back for more advanced tuition when I have mastered all I learnt. Can't wait ......

Wonderful day learning from an amaizing teacher

I cant thank you enough Jan. Thank you for introducing me to the wonderful world of Tambour. I attended your one day course in Melbourne where I learnt everything I needed to get me started. I look forward to attending more of you classes and developing my skills. Your are an amazing teacher. Thank you so much for sharing your skills and passion for tambour. From a complete beginner. If you have ever wanted to learn and have the chance to attend one of Jan's classes, highly recommended.

Amazing teacher, what a day!

Jan is an absolutely brilliant teacher, I had the best day learning this beautiful craft! She has such a wealth of knowledge and is so passionate about tambour beading. I feel very lucky to have been able to spend time with her one-to-one to learn the basics of the technique as she is a true expert, not to mention a lovely person who makes you feel at ease straight away! I can't wait to get practicing and begin my tambour journey. Thank you so much Jan - and thank you to the Fudge Man for the best fudge I have ever tasted!

You Will Be Hooked

I came across Tambour beading by watching a clip sent to me on face book about Channel Couture fashion. It showed how the costumes were made and the intricate beading techniques used. Then I found Jan's website and I knew this was something I had to try.

On arrival I was made to feel very welcome and within minutes I felt relaxed and excited to get started. Jan explains everything and there is no rush, you take it at your own speed and move on only when you are comfortable to do so. There are numerous examples of tambour beading and Jan's knowledge and enthusiasm is endless. As we worked I could see the possibilities of work I would like to do and how you can extended the processes to make your own pieces. I enjoyed every moment, I know I am going to need a lot of practise but I have the technique the rest will follow.

I look forward to going back to learn more and yes there is fudge, very delicious. Thank you Jan it was a pleasure to met you. Sue Brown

Jan is indescribably awesome!

I spent a most marvelous day with Jan. She is patient, knowledgeable, creative, warm, gracious, welcoming, andawesome!

I was admittedly a little nervous. I stayed in London and was concerned that I would not find my way to Jan's studio. But upon my arrival, Jan met me at the train and straight away it was as if we had known each other for years. She welcomed me with a hot cup of tea and a chat. I was instantly at ease.

She is patient and encouraging when teaching. Examples of her work are inspirational and awe inspiring. She has a wealth of knowledge which she gives freely.

I lack adequate adjectives to fairly describe the fantastic day I spent with Jan. She is wonderful. Email her today and reserve the day with her. Do not hesitate. You will have a fabulous day.

Oh, and don't forget the Fudge Man. His fudge is delicious and he is every bit as gracious as Jan.

At the end of the day,I went away with beads, inspiration, and new best friends.

Everyone Should Do This!

You NEED to do this course! I had a fantastic day with Jan and I learnt so much.

I met Jan last year when I was looking for someone to create some embroidery for my wedding dress. I found an absolute treasure! She was so friendly and has so much passion for her craft that it really is infectious. She designed and created some absolutely stunning embroidery for my wedding dress, it really is a work of art. She worked with complete transparency in terms of cost and stuck well within my budget. Her work is truly magnificent.

After meeting Jan - seeing some of her beautiful samples and watching her demonstrate the technique I knew that this was something that I wanted to try to learn. I work in fashion as a Garment Technologist but I have very limited hand sewing skills, and absolutely no patience! I approached the course with low expectations (of myself โ€“ not of Jan) and I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly I got the hang of it. I found it extremely therapeutic and relaxing to do. Jan is an amazing teacher, she paced my learning perfectly to suit me and made me feel so relaxed. She took her time to make sure I had understood everything and covered far more than I thought I would be able to learn in a day. It is amazing value for money too and the one to one learning is perfect if, like me, you would worry about being left behind in a group lesson. I really couldn't be happier!

I came away with my hands full of beads and my head full of inspiration. I canโ€™t wait to get started on my first project safe in the knowledge that I can call on Jan for support in the future.
